1. Insert fishing line through the end flaps into the tool body.
2. Slide the tool down the line until the hook shaft slides through the hook body behind the flaps.
3. Push the tool until the centre bar locates the bend of the hook.
4. A slight push keeping the line taut and the centre bar dislodges the hook from the fish and hiding the point and barb.
5. Remove the hook safely.

If the hook has a fly/shad or other structure where it will not slide through the body gap of the Dee Hooker then physically look for the bend of the hook and locate the end of the Dee Hooker directly onto the bend of the hook and with a slight push the hook will slide into the body of the Dee Hooker, then proceed as before from point 4.
